Artist Statement I am a self taught Minnesota wildlife artist. For the past 28 years, I have painted everything from the 1984 Minnesota Migratory Waterfowl Stamp, to Black bear and Moose of the Superior National Forest. I have spent a good part of my life there doing field work. Hiking, canoeing, fishing and generally gathering inspiration to paint the fantastic animals and scenery of this region. In my painting,I not only want to be accurate in the presentation of an animal and it's surroundings, but also to capture a bit of it's personality. I want to portray these enchanting creatures in ways that are unique, capturing a moment of humor, whimsey, mystery ect. Each painting is a story, inviting the viewer to contemplate. I invite you to walk a trail with me. I want to share with you what I have experienced on the northern forest trail. A treasure of lakes, trees, and waterfalls, of magnificent animals and their mysterious ways. It's a trail that winds beyond the forest, to a very high place where the true Master Artist resides. The Master artist paints the sky every morning and evening, as eagles soar. Everchanging panoramas that humble the greatest artist who can only capture a moment in time. I invite you to come with me, as I have spent a lifetime capturing moments in time, hoping to reflect in some small way the majesty of His creation. |
